met many neighbors last weekend
I’m just finally starting to feel better after being a bit under the weather for a couple of days. But I managed to get out in the great weather last weekend to knock on doors in the northern part of District 3. If you live on any of the following streets, I knocked on your door:
Dunning Dr, Edgar St, Leonard St, N 6th St, Birch St, Fir St, Fort Howard Ave, Fairview Ave, River Ave, Foxview Ave, Main Ave, Oak St, Pine St, Cedar St, Elm St, Spruce St, Ash St, N 8th St, N 9th St
I basically hit all homes north of Main. This was a great weekend. Many of you were home and were quite willing to talk for a few minutes on your front porch and share your concerns. I heard about many issues like the ice center management, playground equipment, traffic signals, camping at the fairgrounds, trash/recycle bins, public works and fire department staffing, and of course taxes. One resident told me we need to beef up city staff and that taxes are not a concern, while another neighbor just down the road expressed his concern to keep taxes low. So this is the challenge that faces the mayor and the city council every year. We’ve got to balance all the great services we’ve come to expect here in De Pere with the amount of taxes we have to fund them. It’s not easy.
I’ll be back out on the streets again next weekend.
