planning info for McDonald’s on Main Ave
One of the most significant projects this year is the construction of a roundabout at the corner of Main Ave and Lawrence Dr, right in front of McDonald’s, Burger King, Festival Foods, near I-41. While this project is happening over the summer, McDonald’s will tear down their current restaurant and build a new one.
If you’re curious to know what the new McDonald’s will look like, a good source of information is the Feb 26, 2018 Plan Commission meeting. The agenda packet includes diagrams along with a several page description of the project.
NOTE: As you read further, please know that plans and timelines can change. Don’t be surprised if something ends up being different than what you see today.
While you can read all the details for yourself, I’ll provide a few screenshots from the plans to give you an idea of what it will look like. This first diagram shows the site plan. Note that there will no longer be an entrance on Main Ave, but there will be an entrance on the new portion of Lawrence Dr. The east entrance and driveway to 10th St (behind Starbucks) will remain.
The following elevations start as you’re facing the restaurant from the front, and then going around the building to the right.
For the following photos, you should know that I’m no planner or architect. But based on the elevation diagrams, this restaurant looks a lot like the one McDonald’s recently built on Oneida St in Ashwaubenon. So, I took these photos of that location only for illustration purposes. They start while looking at the restaurant from the front, and then going around the building to the right.
Per city code, they are required to have at least 34 parking spaces, plus room for the drive-thru. The restaurant will have 60 parking spaces. The target date of opening is September 1, 2018.
I can’t stress enough that most of this information is not cast in stone. But hopefully this give you a good idea of what to expect.
